How my journey began

Alixanderia Shay, L.Ac., MSOM, Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)
Licensed Acupuncturist & Chinese Herbologist

I am a Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbologist, licensed in the state of Idaho. I hold a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from Dongguk University in Los Angeles, where I completed my clinical rounds at the Keck School of Medicine. I am nationally board-certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).

Since beginning my practice, I have been passionate about helping patients achieve lasting wellness through the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern healthcare. My areas of focus include infertility, pain management, migraines, sports injuries, facial rejuvenation, and digestive disorders.

My education emphasized both Eastern and Western medical sciences, giving me a well-rounded understanding of patient care. This background allows me to bridge the gap between traditional and modern medicine, supporting patients who often come to acupuncture after having “tried everything else.” It is incredibly rewarding to witness the profound changes that acupuncture can bring, especially for chronic or complex conditions.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are becoming increasingly recognized for their effectiveness, and it’s an honor to be part of this evolving landscape—helping patients move toward greater balance, vitality, and purpose.

Let’ talk Acupuncture

My journey into acupuncture began with my own search for healing and wellness. For years, I experienced frequent migraines, and after a serious injury, I was unable to walk. When my orthopedic surgeon told me I’d never regain full range of motion in my leg, I knew there had to be another path besides surgery. I turned to acupuncture, physical therapy, and massage therapy. In just three months, I was walking without crutches and had regained 100% of my mobility. My surgeon was astonished. That life-changing experience inspired me to return to school and become a licensed acupuncturist, so I could help others find hope and healing through holistic care.

Let’s talk hypnotherapy-

We’ve all been there—whether it’s healing from trauma, struggling to lose stubborn weight, or simply seeking a new perspective. During my pregnancies, I wanted the most holistic and non-invasive experience possible. I turned to alternative approaches and chose to work with a midwife. Instead of taking traditional birthing classes, I explored meditation and hypnotherapy, which created a calm and empowering environment when it came time to welcome my two boys into the world.

My first introduction to acu-hypnotherapy came through a college course with Dr. Sharleen, whose teachings opened my eyes to the incredible potential of trans-hypnotic suggestion. I was fascinated by how these techniques could help guide both myself and others toward deeper healing and transformation.

Eager to learn more, I discovered Carla Chalah at Hemisphere Hypnotherapy, whose certification program immediately resonated with me. After speaking with her, I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for. I enrolled, completed the training, and became certified within six months. The experience was truly life-changing, and I remain deeply grateful for the growth and insight it brought into my life and practice.
